RECAP

RECAP is The Society for the Resilience and Engagement of the Community of Ashhurst and Pohangina Incorporated.

RECAP is an organisation with Transition Town values that is working to create sufficient social and ecological resilience to respond positively at the local level to changes in climate, external resource supply, global finance, and other changes beyond direct local control.

Ashhurst community garden working bee every Friday 10am - midday, at the Ashhurst Community Library. All Welcome to help tending fruit trees, planting a rotation of vegetables, flowers and herbs, for the community to enjoy. Includes a Sharing Shelf.

As an organisation, RECAP is committed to:

  • Advancing education in permaculture;
  • Advancing education that enhances the community's disaster preparedness and ability to respond non-violently to sudden change;
  • Running practical and educational projects within the Greater Ashhurst and the Pohangina Valley Region to manifest the knowledge and values of their educational purposes and build the community’s resilience.

Participation

Anyone is welcome to participate in RECAP workshops, events, and activities. The website is regularly updated; email here to be put on the mailing list. The formal membership area of the organization is Ashhurst and the Pohangina Valley, and they are are happy to cooperate with individuals and groups from outside this area as well.

Volunteering

There is a range of volunteer roles available for anyone who is interested, from gardening to governance, from annual to weekly support. RECAP are also grateful for opportunities to work in partnership with other community groups.
